what to wear when…in the deep sea. sub-photic freaks circle, prehistoric predators whose presence is betrayed only by jolts of watery motion and the cold glow of bioluminescent lanterns in the salty chill. in these undersea colonies, sucking life from some ancient, sunless source: lampreys (those tight tubes of teeth and terror) and bristlemouths and spiny eels with spiky fangs. inside-out skeletons and viperfish float corpse-like and ominous in the frigid depths, ragged flesh fluttered by jets of hydrothermal chimneys, boiling black and smoky. there is no light, no light gets through, just pressurized, eclipsing blue.
